I was the president of the Audio/Visual Club in high school, where we ran event tech for many events around campus such as rallies, assemblies, and liturgies. This includes managing soundboards, microphones, lighting, visuals, and logistics. The challenge I encountered was that when events have multiple cues we need to listen for to indicate a change in sound, lighting, or visuals, we had no easy way of communicating this to all of our event technicians scattered all over the place. In addition if the event needs to be quiet or if the event is loud, it becomes even harder to communicate.

Because of this, I created a communication portal for the web to communicate simple messages to event technician. The event manager can log into their portal through the web app. From there, the communication panel includes the most common cue actions that need to be communicated. By pressing a button, a webhook is sent and received by Discord, a communication app. This sends the message associated to everyone in the given server.

The unique aspect of the web app is that it was developed as a website rather than an application. This allowed for users to use school devices which blocked downloading of unapproved apps. In addition, the portal is made to perfectly fit an iPad screen, the most common school-issued device that was given to all students.
